Yunha Kim

In today’s world, it’s all about making an impact. The fast-moving life, staying ahead of everything, the belief to excel in all spheres and the work pressure is unapologetically taking a toll. No wonder why mass population struggles with stress, insomnia, anxiety issues, and other everyday troubles. But isn’t ‘living’ is to be truly ‘alive’- breaking comfort zones, finding simple joys in the everyday things, creating memories, discovering compassion or being happy. Or is merely ‘live’ to ‘exist’? With the mission:

"To empower humans to live better, everyday"

Leading the Modern Mindfulness

Recognized by Forbes as ‘30 Under 30’, Marie Claire's New Guard and by Business Insider as advertising’s ‘30 Most Creative Under 30’, Yunha is CEO and Founder of Simple Habit, a 5-minute app for stress relief. Kim began her career in investment banking and built her first start-up Locket when she was 23-years-old. Kim then began to meditate to help manage the stress of start-up life.

“Meditation has changed my life. As a CEO, friend and daughter, I am more focused; more compassionate and more energized than I’ve ever been. Meditation helps me to think clearly and respond to problems with better solutions. Therapists and exercise are amazing resources for managing stress, but they’re time-intensive and can be expensive. For me, meditation is a more accessible resource for my mental health.”

The idea to build a more diverse, practical meditation app came to Kim when she was pursuing her MBA at Stanford. She dropped out of Stanford after one semester to build Simple Habit into the leading meditation platform for busy, stressed-out people.

Take a vacation from your mind

Simple Habit is the meditation app for busy people to reduce stress, improve focus, sleep better, relax faster, calm their nerves and breathe easier. It takes only 5 minutes per day to relax, making it easy to fit mindful moments into busy lifestyles. These bite-sized, on-the-go meditations are guided by 100+ world-class meditation teachers, mindfulness experts at Google, board-certified psychiatrists and even former monks. The app offers 50+ free sessions and has a premium library of 1500+ meditations and audio therapy on situations, moods, and topics like insomnia, before a meeting, can't sleep, taking a work break, commuting, feeling nervous or even before a date. The app also backs one up on the craziest of days and brings one an on-the-go meditation experience when users are commuting, walking in the city or even when doing the dishes. Users are also allowed to customize their session length from 5, 10 to even 20, 30 minutes! In addition, one can also enjoy features like daily reminders to meditate, tracking for daily streaks, and more.

Live it all out loud

Since launch, Simple Habit has inspired more than 2.5 million people from around the world to meditate. Simple Habit is recognized by Google Play as the best app of 2018. Let’s start a Simple Habit!

Here are some of the additional benefits of Simple Habit daily meditation practice: It is effective in helping reducing depression, enhance one's quality of breathing, increase self-awareness and sense of perspective. Simple Habit succeeds in teaching its users on how to be an effective leader, to be a better listener and most importantly how to ‘Be happier’.

“I heard from a woman who was diagnosed with cancer and now uses Simple Habit to cope with the pain and stress of treatment. We’ve heard from foster parents who are using Simple Habit to help their kids cope with anger,” Yunha explains how the biggest reward for her is in seeing how Simple Habit is changing lives.

Advice to Visionary Women of Future

Yunha advice to young women interested in starting their own company is to “Invest in yourself. Self-care is critical. You will work long days, and stress is inevitable, so it’s important to take a little time each day to step away, breathe and reset.” Yunha describes resilience, resolve, passion, humility, and a growth mindset as the most important characteristics for someone to be successful “If you’re excited about something, take big risks and don’t be afraid to fail. With every experience, there is a lesson to be learned. But you have to commit. If you can walk away feeling confident that an idea was a failure, that is still a win in my book. Try, fail, find new solutions and then try again. That’s how you get better.”
