A real leader always finds the balance between business foresight, performance, and character. They have vision, courage, integrity, humility, and the focus to plan strategically as well as catalyze cooperation amongst their teams. Furthermore, there are those who really enjoy the intangible benefit of giving. They take the responsibility to help those that are less fortunate, contribute to the common good and make the world a better place. While volunteer groups and non-profit organizations do so much to help communities they can't do everything on their own. One of those who does it includes artist and thought challenger Raheela Al Karim. Her multiple philanthropic businesses include Plush Event Planning, Plush Multimedia, Shahi Banquets, Shahi Nihari, Chopsticks and multiple gas stations which support the Al Karim Foundation. The charitable organization is currently running five projects including Winter Blankets Drive in Karachi, Fazal Grocery Drive in Karachi, Masjid (mosque) renovation, Kids Tuition Drive and Warm Coats Drive Chicago.
“Plush Event Planning donates most of the money to Al Karim Foundation. Every month we do a grocery food drive in Karachi, Pakistan. We support many kids tuition, we help out girls getting married, and aid those in need of daily household victuals”, says Raheela Al Karim. The social change company, Plush Event Planning was founded in 2007. The company is Chicago based located in the IL west suburb.

Corporate Humanity
Soon after the completion of her MBA from Elmhurst College, Raheela lost her source of inspiration, her ideal, and her father - Mr. Fazal Karim. The demise of her father tore her apart but his last words to build a charitable organization and pursue her Doctoral Degree in Leadership kept her going. The dream of the father became the daughter’s dream. Raheela is currently pursuing her Doctoral in Educational Leadership from DePaul University and plunged herself into numerous ventures in order to translate her father’s vision into reality. For Raheela the sky is the limit. She is ready to learn, take risks, innovate and use her creative power to envision and invoke a more socially just, as well as a spiritually fulfilled world. This vision has begun to take shape with help of Al Karim Foundation, by soon building a school and a Masjid in Karachi, with the help of Plush Event Planning revenues.
Raheela is living a dream. She is truly doing what she believes in. “I spend my every single second being artistic for productivity, inventive for co-operating projects and resourceful for the philanthropist work”, says Raheela. Having a vision for something and a desire to create it, Raheela is ‘all about taking actions’. She believes there are no overnight successes; a true leader should believe in one's dream, work for their true goal, invest their time, build an apt team, become skilled from compliments and consider unhappy customer suggestions to fill holes in their service as well as mull over mistakes. “My weakness and my failures build a solid foundation of spark and positive energy inside me which motivates and excites me about prospects of work”, says Raheela. In order to index and monitor her personal and organizational growth, she keeps a daily journal to track her progress. “In my journal, I have long, medium, and short-term goals listed. I then, each day, write a brief note on progress made towards reaching these milestones. At the end of the month, I do a more thorough evaluation and try to indicate, using a ten-point scale, the amount of progress I have made towards each goal”, explains Raheela.
Strolling on a beach, relaxing in spa or taking a vacation gives her an opportunity to escape from her otherwise busy schedule.
