The Trailblazer: Women Leaders, 2025

Liz Hoop: Redefining Senior Care with Compassion and Faith

In a world that often seems disconnected, where people can feel isolated and overlooked, there are some who dedicate themselves to changing that narrative. Liz Hoop, founder and CEO of Hoop Cares LLC, is one such leader. She has transformed the lives of countless seniors, creating a space where they are not just cared for, but truly seen and valued. Through her dedication, compassion, and commitment to service, Liz is making an indelible mark on the senior care industry.

“Everyone deserves to age with dignity, respect, and love. That’s not just our mission—it’s our calling.”

Hoop Cares LLC, a non-medical in-home caregiving service based in Moss Point, Mississippi, is approaching its fourth year of operation. But, as Liz will tell you, the company’s success isn’t just measured by years or revenue—it’s measured by the relationships they build with each client and the impact they have on the lives of families. “We don’t just provide a service; we provide a connection. We treat each person like family,” she says. “Our job isn’t to just take care of the elderly—it’s to empower them to age with dignity, independence, and grace.”

The mission behind Hoop Cares is simple but profound: To help seniors remain in their homes for as long as possible, with affordable, high-quality care that respects their autonomy and individuality. This philosophy sets the company apart from many others in the senior care industry. While other businesses may focus on the basic tasks of caregiving, Hoop Cares goes above and beyond to ensure that every client is treated as a person, not a number.

Liz’s leadership is the driving force behind this approach. From the moment you meet her, it’s clear that her commitment to her clients goes beyond the usual. “I’ve been a caregiver myself in different periods of my life, and I’ve learned that empathy and compassion are not just qualities—they’re the foundation of everything we do,” she explains. “That’s what I wanted to build with Hoop Cares: a place where people can feel seen, heard, and respected.”

Her commitment to quality care has earned her numerous accolades, including the Senior Care Innovator Award in 2022, the Community Impact Award in 2021, and the Excellence in Leadership Award in 2020. Most recently, she was named the Best Woman-Owned Small Business in Moss Point for 2024 and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Successful Women of 2024. For Liz, these awards are a recognition of the collective effort of her team and their shared passion for the company’s mission.

But Liz’s journey to becoming a recognized leader in senior care didn’t follow a traditional path. “I never imagined myself running a business,” she admits. Her path began in the most personal of ways. In late 2021, she found herself at a crossroads, working for a nonprofit that, while fulfilling, wasn’t paying her enough to make ends meet. She knew she had to make a change. “I was working with elderly and disabled individuals, and one thing I kept hearing was how many of them couldn’t get to their medical appointments or run errands because they no longer had access to transportation. I saw that need and realized this was my calling,” Liz says.

With little more than a vision and a heart for service, Liz founded Hoop Cares LLC. The company started small, with Liz reaching out to local hospice and home health care providers, speaking with seniors, and listening to their needs. But she soon realized that there was a gap in the market for affordable, compassionate, non-medical care, especially for seniors who wanted to remain in their homes. This is where Liz’s faith and commitment to service played a pivotal role.

“I pray about everything. When I first started Hoop Cares, I asked God, ‘What am I supposed to do?’ And I felt Him guide me,” she says. “The desire to serve my community, to help people who often had no one else to turn to, was something that I couldn’t ignore.” This deep sense of purpose has been central to Liz’s success, and it permeates every aspect of her business—from the way she selects caregivers to how she interacts with clients and their families.

Hoop Cares LLC’s value proposition is rooted in its ability to customize each care plan to meet the specific needs of the client. Whether it’s offering companionship, help with daily activities, or providing transportation to medical appointments, Liz ensures that the care is as unique as the individual receiving it. “It’s not about having a one-size-fits-all solution,” she says. “It’s about listening to each person, understanding their needs, and crafting a care plan that fits them. That’s the key to creating real value.”

What separates Hoop Cares from other providers is this personalized approach. “Our clients aren’t just a number on a ledger,” Liz explains. “They are people who have lived long lives and deserve to age with dignity and respect.” This ethos is reflected in everything they do, from matching clients with caregivers based on compatibility to maintaining an open line of communication with families. Liz’s approach is simple but effective: treat others as you would want your own loved ones to be treated.

“We’re not just caregivers. We’re companions, advocates, and friends. We treat our clients like family because that’s how we’d want our own loved ones to be treated.”

The company’s growing success can be attributed to the trust it has built within the community. Word-of-mouth referrals are a primary source of business, a testament to the impact the company’s work has on families. “If you do right by people, they will do right by you,” Liz says. “That’s been my philosophy since day one.” The fact that families trust Liz and her team to care for their elderly loved ones speaks volumes about the quality and dedication of her service.

"Everyone deserves to age with dignity, respect, and love. That’s not just our mission—it’s our calling."

Despite the company’s success, Liz remains humble about her achievements. “It’s not about me—it’s about the people we serve,” she says. Yet, it’s impossible to ignore the significant impact she’s made on both the local community and the senior care industry. With a staff of dedicated caregivers and a growing number of clients, Liz is charting a course for even greater success in the coming years.

Looking to the future, Liz has ambitious plans to expand Hoop Cares LLC’s service offerings. In the next few months, she hopes to broaden the company’s scope to include even more specialized services. But no matter how big the company grows, Liz is committed to maintaining the core values that have made Hoop Cares so successful: compassion, integrity, and faith.

“Serving others is not just a job, it’s a calling,” Liz reflects. “I want to make sure that when someone needs help, they know that they can come to us and get the care and respect they deserve. That’s the heart of what we do.”

For Liz Hoop, leadership is about more than just managing a business—it’s about creating a legacy of love and compassion. As Hoop Cares LLC continues to grow and evolve, it’s clear that Liz’s vision for a more compassionate, dignified approach to senior care will be at the forefront of everything they do. And in a world that often overlooks the most vulnerable, Liz’s commitment to providing exceptional care is a beacon of hope.

As she looks ahead to the future, one thing is certain: Hoop Cares LLC will continue to be a leader in senior care, not just because of its services, but because of the heart that drives it. Liz Hoop has built more than just a business—she’s built a family, and in the process, she’s changing the way we think about aging, care, and compassion.
