Being an entrepreneur might sound like the coolest thing, but it’s definitely not as easy as it might appear. It takes everything (time, money, blood, sweat and tears) to start a business and then it takes even more to grow it into a successful and thriving one - statistics say that 80% of new businesses fail within the first 18 months, so the odds are stacked against most.

The entrepreneurial journey is always a bumpy one, a constant uphill challenge that can really take it out of you if you don’t have the mindset and the clear focus for what you want to achieve. It’s often a physical challenge, a mental and emotional battle and for an entrepreneur, everything including their wellness, comforts, joys, family and friends often take a back seat. Work-life balance becomes a myth. However, you can look up to those who have been through all this and can understand what makes this rollercoaster trip a splendid one.

An unconventional thinker

Carrie Green is an entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, the author of the international bestselling book, She Means Business and the founder of the Female Entrepreneur Association, which is now seven years old. In September 2012 she won ‘The Change Makers Award’, which was presented by HRH Prince Andrew.

It was back then in 2005 when a young law graduate student at the University of Birmingham ventured into the world of business. With the attitude to start something of her own, Carrie started a mobile phone unlocking service, freeing up your phone from whatever network it was locked to. So ensued a lot of hustle, night-school classes, learning new things, falling off, getting back on, excitement, exhilaration, exhaustion and a business trading globally. Within two years Carrie had developed it into an automated business selling throughout the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Europe, receiving over 100,000 hits on the website every month. It was succeeded by her second business, Simply Telecoms, which provided services telecommunications services to UK businesses.

However, the path of entrepreneurship was no different for her. She admits of working very hard but yet feeling stumped and unfulfilled at times, working on the business alone. It was this feeling of isolation and lack of satisfaction that lead her to follow her passions and to explore a business idea that really excited her - and so the Female Entrepreneur Association was born.

The Female Entrepreneur Association is an online hub and training platform with the mission of inspiring and empowering women from around the world to turn their ideas into a reality, build successful businesses and live a life they love. With over 650,000 women now involved worldwide, it’s become one of the fastest growing networks for female entrepreneurs. FEA publishes weekly YouTube video series, inspiring posts and messages through Instagram and Facebook and hosts live, online masterclasses and trainings for its community of members.

Connecting with like-minded women far and wide, publishing their incredible stories of adversity and success, and getting to know them was what Carrie loved and invested her time in. It was these stories of women from around the world that inspired Carrie and lead her to write her first book, She Means Business which became an international bestseller within months of its release. She puts her success down to one main attribute: Mindset. Having the right mindset can get you through any adversity, it’s the one single thing that she says has helped her to get to where she is today.

“I believe that everyone has the ability to achieve amazing things in life if they have the right attitude”, emphasizes Carrie.

Inspiring- ‘Tales to tell’

FEA is built on a foundation of strong belief and values of dreaming big, believing, supporting, inspiring and being real. They want to bring a difference to the life of a community that deserves more.
